Here’s what we have in store this month for tastings at Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits. Please note that the 27th is my birthday (woot woot), so we’ll be tasting whatever it is I want to drink that day. Right now I’m leaning towards this. YUM!!
Tastings and Specials for the month of July 2018 at Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits.
Have you seen these banners around town yet?
Man, do they look sharp! Here’s the one closest to our shop.
According to the town’s website, the program highlights local men and women who are serving, or who have served, in our military. The banners will be displayed until later in the fall, when they will be retired and turned over to families and sponsors for safe keeping. Awesome program! Just one of a thousand reasons we love to be a part of the community here in Duanesburg.
From Applejack to Zinfandel, get Dad a gift he’ll LOVE at Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits.
From now until Father’s Day, your purchase of a Gift Certificate valued at $50 or more will be discounted $5. So a $50 gift certificate will only cost you $45, a $60 gift certificate will only cost you $55, etc. A good deal for a great dad: Yours!!
And don’t forget to check out our awesome selection of Bourbon, Scotch, and Whiskey, including specialty items available in our Private Collection. We’ve got something for everyone, and gift wrap too!
Tastings, Specials, and Events.
Flavored vodkas are a dime a dozen. Unique and well done flavors are worth noting.
So we just got in these cute lil’ guys: Western Son Vodka flavors, in 50ml bottles. At 99 cents a pop, you can try all six of the flavors we carry (peach, lime, cucumber, prickly pear, watermelon, and grapefruit) without spending a ton of money. AND we also have them available in 10 packs (single flavor only, sorry) for $8.99, so you save about a dollar that way. Good deal!
Western Son distills their vodka in Texas, and they *might* be knocking on the doors of Tito’s fans (they also boast that they are a small batch, hand-crafted, gluten-free corn vodka, distilled 10 times…oh, and they, too, give back through their own charity). However one big difference: Western Son has the FLAVAHS.
NOW ON TO MY RANT. I feel like these days there are as many flavored vodkas as there are shows on the History Channel that have nothing to do with history (and I blame you, Pawn Stars).
I checked, and there are easily a gillion different vodka flavors. Everything from Bacon to Sriracha to Chocolate Whipped Cream. I mean, I’m sure that gym-sock flavored vodka is going to go GREAT in your post-workout Bloody Mary, but I don’t see a ton of uses for some of these crazy flavors.
Western Son Vodka comes in flavors that are different, but not super-specific and weird (I bet you were wondering where I was going with the gym-sock thing). Lime and Prickly Pear could go in any number of fun fruity cocktails. With summer just around the corner, Fun Fruity Cocktails are definitely on my list of things to do. So while I’m pretty sure flavored vodkas in general are poised to go the way of the Cupcake, I’m hoping these will stick around to grace my concoctions for years to come.
