NEW: Drive Thru Window and Curbside Service

Beginning Saturday March 14th 2020, Vintage 20 will be offering Curbside Service and a DRIVE THRU WINDOW for your convenience and safety.

There are two things I always say about our line of work:

1.) Our customers and community are the BEST

2.) At Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits we are basically ALWAYS open. Most holidays? Open. Snow storms? Open. Pandemics? …Open. drive thru

That said, we want you to stay safe and healthy (and us too). So we’re trying a little something new- Curbside Service and a DRIVE THRU WINDOW. Here’s How it Works:

  • CALL US at 518-895-1098 to place your order.
  • Pay by credit or debit card over the phone (there is a $1.00 service fee for this as our merchant processor charges a higher rate for keyed-in transactions).
  • Your order will be ready in as little as 5 minutes!
  • When you arrive, pull up to the front of the store and call us to let us know you’ve arrived. We’ll need to see valid, government issued ID upon pick up, so have it handy.
  • A customer service rep will bring your order out to your car for you. ALTERNATELY, you can pull right up to our window (it will be marked) and we’ll hand your purchase to you.

It’s that simple.

Our store will remain OPEN to walk in customers as long as the powers that be will allow 😉

Questions?

Give us a call at 518-895-1098 or reach out on Facebook. Cheers!

Happy New Year!

Warm up with Citra Montepulciano D’Abruzzo on 1/24/20 from 4p-7p at Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits.

If it’s still January, it counts as a New Year’s post, right?

If you have ever worked in any sort of retail environment, you are probably well aware that the “Holiday Season” (aka Hell) is both the best and worst of times. It takes forever to go by, and at the same time, you blink and it’s the end of January, and you’re wondering where the heck did it all go?

I know that’s where I’m at. And I have also been very bad at keeping up this site. Best intentions and all that.

But here I am! Trying to come up with some sort of a tasting schedule for the coming year.

citra-montepulcianoLet’s start with something hearty this week, ’cause winter only started a month ago and I am already tired of being cold all the time. So please, join us this Friday January 24th 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM for a free sample of Citra Montepulciano D’Abruzzo. This is a great everyday table wine for cold months, as it packs a little bit of heat and a touch of acidity, but not too much. It’s right smack in the middle of the palate for fruity vs peppery, dry vs. sweet. So basically, it’s an easy going, people pleasing, delight. And super reasonably priced, too!

But wait, there’s more! During the tasting (hosted by yours truly), we’ll take 10% off your purchase of Citra Montepulciano. It’s a good deal with some great company, if I do say so myself 🙂

Hope to see you there! Cheers!

You Want it? We’ll Bring It!

Did you know that liquor delivery in Duanesburg is a thing? It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned it on here, but yeah, we’re still offering delivery to Duanesburg and the surrounding areas for just FIVE BUCKS.

Sound Interesting?

Let me tell you how it works. Just give Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits a call at 518-895-1098. We’ll walk you through the ordering process and schedule a time to deliver your order to you. Most times, we can offer same day delivery!

Vintage 20 and its representatives reserve the right to decline sale to anyone who is visibly intoxicated, if we believe that underage drinking will be taking place, or if you cannot produce valid ID.

Hey There, Autumn…

Vintage 20 invites you to sample a fantastic assortment of spirits from Saint Lawrence Spirits on Friday 9/20/19 from 4p-7p.

Do you ever have one of those years that makes you wonder if you are secretly the star of a sitcom and you just…I don’t know…forgot…or nobody told you, or something? Just me?

i-love-lucy-style-crazy
Ever see The Long Long Trailer? It’s like that.

This has definitely been my reality of late (okay, it’s been going on for a while now) and I feel like it’s just been a Murphy’s Law extravaganza of comedic error, and I-Love-Lucy-style ridiculousness. Life gets that way sometimes. I just keep reminding myself, hey– at least I’m never bored.

And while that’s true…I do often get distracted, and then I look up one day and realize it’s been TWO ENTIRE MONTHS since I’ve published a blog post. Whoops.

So here I am, just an exhausted mom/business owner/wine aficionada waving at (all 5 of) you from my keyboard, hoping you’ll join me this Friday for our Saint Lawrence Spirits tasting.

If You’ve Read the Casual Wine Taster Blog before, you probably recognize Saint Lawrence Spirits. We’ve invited them to taste here a number of times, and with good reason. They are a New York family owned and operated distillery, and above all we LOVE sharing high quality, locally crafted products with our customers.

My personal favorite is their Empire Cream. It’s made with their Ryesing Tide Whiskey and real cream (from Batavia). Smooth and decadant, this is a fall evening in a glass, especially if you’re like me and don’t much care for pumpkin-spiced-everything.

::ducks::

They’ll be bringing their other fabulous spirits, too. Around here people seem to love the Captain’s Flask bourbon. Saint Lawrence also makes some more interesting offerings, like Downbound Gin, which is barrel-aged, giving it a distinctive, nutty warmth at 114 proof.

Stop by and try it all this Friday, September 20th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. As with all of our tastings, there is NO CHARGE to attend. Just stop by and sample at your leisure!

We hope to see you there!

Summahhhh Sangria: Opici Red Sangria

Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits will feature a FREE tasting of Opici Red Sangria on 7/19/19 from 4p to 7p.

Do you want to know what my hands down, 100% most favorite thing EVER about owning a liquor store is?

Besides owning tens of thousands of dollars worth of wine and liquor that I could just drink whenever I wanted, but I don’t because $$?

It’s the TASTINGS. I love picking out something delicious and sharing it with all of you. Because how do you know what you like or don’t like, if you don’t try it first? And how much easier is it to try something if you’re not obligated to buy it? Way easier, right? Try-Before-You-Buy is the best!

This weekend is supposed to have a “feels like” temperature of 102 degrees. Which is gross. Summer is definitely here, and that demands we find the perfect deck/pool/camp/boat/ beverage. Because what’s a lazy summer weekend without an ice cold drink in your hand?

So in honor of it being ridiculously hot out, I’m breaking out my favorite summer sipper: Opici Red Sangria. Yes, it’s a premade Sangria. But I promise you, it lacks NADA in flavor. We sell it in 3 liter boxes because when you break this stuff out at a party, it goes FAST.

Opici-sangriaYou’ll want to keep the box in your fridge or cooler, because it’s definitely best chilled (that’s why it’s one of my summer staples!). With a great citrus tang and a hint of spice, a glass of this sangria goes with everything from burgers and dogs, to ice cubes and upper lip sweat. It’s just a friendly and approachable wine. I want to open it right now.

BUT, our tasting doesn’t start until Friday, July 19th at 4 PM. Stop in between 4 PM and 7 PM to give this one a sip. You won’t be disappointed. We’ll also be offering 10% off your purchase of Opici Red Sangria for the entirety of the tasting event. So try it, love it, buy it, and save 10%. What a deal!

Hope to see you there. Cheers!

They’re Baaaack!

FREE Saint Lawrence Spirits tasting at Vintage 20 on Friday 6/28/19 from 4p-7p.

No, not the spirits from Poltergeist. Instead we have much more friendly Spirits– from Saint Lawrence Distillery in Clayton, NY! We’ve got them stopping by this Friday, June 28th for our weekly FREE tasting.

One of our favorite homegrown, handcrafted lines, the spirits from Saint Lawrence Saint-lawrence-downbound-ginDistillery are right outta this world. We just brought in their Downbound Gin, which is unique because it’s barrel aged and “Navy Strength” (aka 114 proof). We also have some old favorites, including Empire Bourbon Cream, and Captain’s Flask Bourbon. AND SO MUCH MORE. A rep from the company will be on hand with many samples from the Saint Lawrence Spirits portfolio.

So bring your questions and your taste buds– there’s a lot to explore this Friday (June 28th) from 4PM-7PM at Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits. Cheers!

You’ll Wanna Try this: Scrumpy Ewe

Vintage 20 Wine and Spirits hosts a Scrumpy Ewe Cider tasting on Friday 6/14/19 from 4pm to 7pm.

So Here’s Something a Little Bit Different

…but only a little. Here at Vintage 20, we really enjoy supporting other local businesses. So it’s always a good day when we’re able to add new products to our inventory that highlight the great stuff being crafted in our little corner of the world, and share them with you. This week’s tasting highlights a local Cidery (for a change): Scrumpy Ewe. Located a hop, skip, and a jump away in West Fulton, Scrumpy Ewe Ciders are born and brewed in the Schoharie Valley using an interesting variety of apples in a European style. What you get is a cider that feels more like a fine wine. So yeah, this ain’t your scrumpy-ewe-cidermama’s cider.

Nothing against your mama, of course 😉

Join us this Friday, June 14th from 4pm to 7pm to try some Scrumpy Ewe’s goodness, and maybe even learn what “scrumpy” means (unless you already know or decided to Google). We’ll have two ciders open for your tasting pleasure. They’re night and day— and delicious. Hope to see you there!
